Weekend Wedding Fayre

So last weekend I volunteered to take some photographs at a local wedding fayre. Well they do say you should do something everyday that scares you. Taking photos of a few models on a catwalk modeling wedding dresses for a local wedding dress shop. Didn't sound to bad except the room was fairly dark and despite having 4 mains powered strobes and 1 battery powered I wasn't aloud to use them. NO FLASH to be used!!! So after a small panic, some more free cake and sausage rolls I had to crank up the ISO and get on with it. Much to my relief things turned out ok.

Anyone up for a less stressful portrait session, (cake and sausage rolls are fine), give me a shout.

Livingroom Photoshoot

So as the weather was so good at the weekend my daughter decided she would like her photo taken.

No fancy studio with loads of room and lots of fancy lights to play with this was taken in my living room. Ok I did use a couple of studio lights and modifiers but it does show that you can get decent results without spending a fortune on equipment or hiring a studio for a few hours. On the down side it did take me about half an hour to set up and dismantle the the lights, background and softboxes etc.

Most importantly we both had fun and managed to avoid storm Dennis for a few hours!!!

2020 year of the portrait!!!

So this year I've decided to branch out from my usual landscapes photography and start taking photographs of the very thing I've tried to avoid for the last 10 years or so...... People. I've dabbled in portrait work for a little while but this has mainly been taking photographs of my daughter for the annual Christmas card photo for the Aunties. I've had help from a few more experienced portrait photographs and worked with some very patient models. (my daughter does not fit into this category) Much to my wife's delight this has also meant investing in some new gear.

So if you'd like some headshots, update the family portraits, need a confidence boost or just enjoy having your photo taken give me a shout.
